Company HistoryGreen Bay Insurance Center incorporated on October 15, 1968 by Joe Schiegg, Lee Streckenbach and Clayton Larscheid as an independent insurance agency catering to the personal needs of local residents and area farmers. Each of the founders started their long insurance careers with other agencies but recognized the upmost importance of service in a successful insurance agency. For the first six months, their place of business was Clayton’s basement. Relationship building through personalized service was the foundation for the agency’s early success and continues to be the focus today and what sets them apart from all other agencies in northeastern Wisconsin.
As the agency steadily grew in size, Joe recognized the opportunity of focusing on business insurance and started an expansion from the personal lines approach to a complete multiple lines agency. Primary efforts were then directed toward commercial growth and expanding the agency’s markets. Within a year, they moved to a one room office with two desks and one telephone.
In 1977, Cook Insurance Services merged with Green Bay Insurance Center. An in-house computer system was installed in 1985. Office expansions and location changes followed but the agency always remained in downtown Green Bay to stay centrally located and accessible to its customers. Joe Schiegg became sole owner after the retirement of Clayton and Lee in 1986 and 1993 respectively. In 2003, they settled in at 417 South Monroe Street in Green Bay which remains their current location.
Joe’s two sons, Kevin and Tony Schiegg have worked at the agency for many years. In 2012, Joe sold the business to his sons who maintain the ownership and management of the agency to this day. This family run business continues to serve the people of northeastern Wisconsin with the same business principals as the founders. The agency now offers all lines of insurance and represents numerous insurance companies. It prides itself on being a one-stop shop for all insurance needs while offering a personalized approach to selling insurance.
